Our Major Destinations in Canada

Banff/ Lake Louise - Alberta

JTA's wintersport expert's comments.

Banff and Lake Louise combine to make Alberta's largest ski area made up of different mountains including Sunshine and Mount Norquay. Fabulous snow conditions, a long season from November to May, there is something for everyone with amazing facilities for beginners and intermediates and lots to challenge advanced skiers and boarders too. Banff and Lake Louise are loved by non-skiers as well as those taking to the slopes - and as for the scenery - unforgettable.

Canmore

JTA's wintersport expert's comments.

Alberta's main centre for cross-country skiing, Canmore is a favourite for cross-country enthusiasts with hundreds of kilometres of carefully-prepared tracks with beautiful scenery wherever you look.

Fernie -Alberta

JTA's wintersport expert's comments.

If you are looking for 'steep and deep' skiing then Fernie is really the resort for you. It does cater for every grade of skier and boarder, but it comes into its own if you are looking for powder and back country skiing and touring. If money is no object, the heli-skiing is an option with a qualified and experienced guide. With a snow-base normally in excess of 2ms, with plenty of dumps of fresh powder, Fernie is a small but friendly resort with some of Canada's best conditions guaranteed.

Jasper - Alberta

JTA's wintersport expert's comments.

Sometimes overshadowed by Banff and Lake Louise at the other end of the spectacular Icefields Parkway drive, Jasper's ski area, including Marmot Basin, is popular with families driving down the highway from Edmonton. A relaxed and charming resort town, Jasper has great shops, bars, and cafes, and is also popular for cross-country skiers and non-skiers alike.

Mont Tremblant - Quebec

JTA's wintersport expert's comments.

French-speaking Canada's main wintersports resort is only 90 minutes from Montreal, and offers a compact ski and snowboard area. Although it only goes up to just under 1000ms, it has an excellent snow record and a longest run of over 6kms.

Whistler - BC

JTA's wintersport expert's comments.

Canada's largest ski resort is only 2 hours north of Vancouver, but has something for everyone. It's ideal for beginners, families with young children, and particularly intermediate and advanced skiers and boarders. Together with sister resort, Blackcomb, the two communities hosted all the main alpine events at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. For those looking for extra adventure, back country skiing and boarding with a suitably qualified guide from Blackcomb will give you an unforgettable experience. There is a huge choice of accommodation available, together with lively and extensive apres-ski, and plenty to keep non-skiers occupied too.
